The Benefit Coordinator assists employees with benefits enrollment and questions, verifies all insurance billing, maintains employee database, and files, and ensures compliance with required benefit notices.

  • Schedule, conduct, and update new hire benefit orientation and leads individual meetings to assist with new hire self-service benefit enrollment and time entry review. Coordinate enrollment with third party vendors.
  • Plan, create, and offer regular programs to provide education to employees on benefit options.
  • Respond to employee benefit and claim inquiries. Assist with qualifying event process.
  • Responsible for My MEMIC benefit page accuracy and updates.
  • Prepare benefit termination paperwork.
  • Monitor the COBRA process to ensure new hires and terminations are processed correctly.
  • Assist with Leave of Absence Program to include State, Federal and American with Disability requests.
  • Assist with Tuition Reimbursement Program.
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation. Review monthly unemployment statements.
  • Assist in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process of any group insurance plans.
  • Assist with annual enrollment benefit campaign.
  • Work with the Payroll Administrator to verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Resolve administrative problems with carrier representatives.
  • Responsible for annual ACA reporting.
  • Serve as a contributing member on the Wellness Committee.
  • Back up for payroll processing.


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of benefit experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to negotiate sensitive, confidential employee conversations is required.
  • Experience with UKG/Payroll Software preferred.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned work, interpret data, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, to include Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as payroll administration technology.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills both on the phone and in person.
  • Excellent written communication skills to include grammar, spelling, and accuracy.
