Would you like to contribute some of your HR knowledge, but do not have a lot of time? Several times a year there is an opportunity to share your knowledge about interview skills with inmates of the Maine Correctional Center who are motivated to change their lives. All of the inmates/students take a WorkReady course voluntarily, and are highly engaged in the whole process. They look forward to the interview portion of the course as it provides them with the opportunity to practice answering some very hard questions, having to do with their criminal background. With your experience, you can help them with these questions, and many others. This opportunity to help others is a stimulating, worthwhile effort. Not only do you also learn new techniques while working with these gentlemen, you also learn from your colleagues who are there to share their knowledge. The help of your organization would be invaluable in helping with the “mock interview” portion of the course. Our aim is to give the participants as much practice as possible so that they feel comfortable and confident when the time comes for the real thing!
